US Army Corps of Engineers Public Works Bulletin: “In-situ epoxy coating for metallic pipe”
Concerned about lead leaching into drinking water and pipe corrosion leading to increased levels of copper in the water, the US Army installed epoxy pipe lining in several of its housing facilities. This technical bulletin concludes that epoxy pipe coatings are “an effective tool in controlling corrosion and extending the service life of system piping and components.”

US Navy Report on Epoxy Pipe Lining: “Control of Lead in Drinking Water”
This public report, written in 1997 by the Naval Research Laboratory, documents the U.S. Navy’s successful use of epoxy pipe lining in three of its buildings. The NRL concluded that epoxy pipe lining is a safe and effective means of preventing lead from leaching into drinking water.

AWWA (American Water Works Research Foundation) Report: “Service Life Analysis of Water Main Epoxy Lining”
The AWWA, a non-profit organization, concluded that epoxy pipe lining can extend the service life of a pipe 40-60 years.

Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development: “Pinhole Leaks in Copper Plumbing”
Pinhole leaks in copper pluming have become a serious problem, causing water damages that lead to mold, costly repairs, and insurance rate increases. The state of Maryland published this copper pinhole report in 2003 to help residents “understand the pinhole leak phenomenon, and thus deal with its consequences.”
